ALFRED MAURER (American 1868-1932) "Portrait of a Woman" Mixed media on board. 21 3/4 x 18 inches; Frame: 29 3/4 x 26 3/8 inches. Signed upper left corner: A.H. Maurer; partial label verso from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis' Northrop Memorial Auditorium (which previously held the collection of Mr. Frederick R. Weisman before it was moved to its current building in 1993). CONDITION: In overall good condition; when examined under black light the gray primer glows as well as the yellow in her face. Cracking and chipping paint throughout; especially n the face (at first glance is looks intentional but upon further inspection it is flaking). Flaking throughout in the face, shoulders and in the bottom corners. The paint is thickly applied throughout and dry there is no varnish on the board.
