AN IMPRESSIVE PAIR OF GEORGE II STYLE CARVED PAINTED SIDE TABLES (20TH CENTURY), based on the Longford Castle table designed by William Kent and originally carved by Benjamin Goodson, 1740, copied from the original in the Victoria and Albert Museum, the tops with grey veined breccia marble above a frieze profusely carved with open leaf scrolls, scallop shells and centred by a mask of Diana, the Goddess of Hunting, flanked by canted carved figures of foxes, raised on platform bases. 99 x 197cm wide x 95cm highThe table upon which these tables are based was supplied by Benjamin Goodson for Sir Jacob Bouverie from Longford Castle in 1740, now residing in the Victoria and Albert Museum.
