A large delftware syrup or wet drug jar c.1750, the globular body painted in blue and black with two birds flanking a basket of fruit above a cartouche inscribed 'S:E:SUC:FUMAR', raised on a tall spreading foot, with a knopped spout and wide strap handle, some glaze chipping, 19.5cm. Provenance: acquired from Christie's, 14th October 1968, lot 80.
