此砚以端石裁成，作圆角四方形，质地光滑细润，有端砚发墨细腻，研磨不滞的特点。砚石正面浅开砚堂，棱线修磨平滑，砚堂内可见斑驳墨痕，可证此砚之时代。砚首凿深峻墨池，琢磨光润，浮雕灵芝云头纹作边饰，观之古意盎然。砚背开覆手，内镌砚铭，字体疏密有致，落余甸款，砚侧亦落“青玉山房珍玩”款。原配紫檀木盒。整砚素雅大气，实为案头佳器。余甸，字田生、仲敏，初名祖训，福建福清人，寄籍南平。康熙四十五年进士，官四川江津县，至顺天府丞。文章、书法冠一时，收藏砚台颇丰。 砚铭：1、洞有石工，则度之。美如英匠，斯削焉。得诸他山可攻错，安诸几案。殊不恶，究谓主人曰是固，多取之而不为虐。壬子冬日，甸之；2、青玉山房珍玩。刻印：业在砚田
