刘继卣（1918-1983）生于天津。1936年入天津市立美术馆西画系。师承刘凤虎、陈少梅等先生。新中国连环画奠基人、泰山北斗，被誉为“当代画圣”。曾任人民美术出版社创作员、中国美术家协会理事、北京市工笔人物画研究会副会长、北京市花鸟画研究会副会长。曾获“1956年莱比锡书展览会金奖”、“1984年瑞士西耶尔第一届国际连环画节特别荣誉奖”，代表作有《鸡毛信》《大闹天宫》《东郭先生》。 款识：辛巳（1941）吉日，刘继卣作。 钤印：继卣笔墨（白）
