Richard Day, London a mahogany bell-top chiming bracket clock: the eight-day duration movement having an anchor escapement and striking the hours on a gong and the quarters on a nest of eight bells, with border engraving and further c-scroll engraving to the backplate, with matching engraving to the pendulum bob, the seven-inch brass break-arch dial having a raised silvered chapter ring engraved with black Roman hour numerals and Arabic five-minute markings, the matted dial centre having an inset shaped silvered plaque engraved with the maker's name Richard Day, London, with cast-brass c-scroll spandrels to the four corners, with decorative blued steel hands, with a strike/silent dial to the arch, the mahogany bell-top case with brass frets to the corners above the arch, cast-brass decorative moulding to the edges, cast-brass handles to the sides with four brass finials to the top corners and a further handle to the top and all standing on four bracket feet, height 54cms including handle. * Biography Richard Day is recorded as working in London from before 1781 until after 1808.
