A GILT- AND RED-LACQUERED WOOD FIGURE OF BUDDHA SHAKYAMUNI BURMA, MANDALAY PERIOD, 18th/19th ct., seated in vajrasana on a plinth with his right hand in bhumisparshamudra while the left is resting on his lap, wearing monastic garment, its border finely decorated with mica inlaid flower-heads, his face displaying a serene expression with downcast eyes below arched eyebrows running into his nose-bridge, smiling lips, elongated earlobes, curled hair continuing into the ushnisha and secured with a diadem inlaid with mica flower-heads - Property from a German private collection, purchased in Thailand 1991 - Few gemstones lost, age cracks.
