王德年，四川江油人，毕业于西南师范学院图画专业。现为西南师范大学美术学院教授。擅长中国人物画兼工花鸟画和山水画。其艺术追求为：极高明而道中庸。致广大而尽精微。画风清秀中见大气，细末中见磅礴。二百多幅作品收入《四川中国画集》、《重庆中国画集》等二十多种画册中；多幅作品获四川省和重庆市优秀作品奖。出版有《工笔人物画技法》、《写意人物画技法》等书和《王德年人物画选》、《王德年花鸟画选》等画册。艺术档次选入中国研究院电脑资料库，个人简介编入《中国当代艺术家名人录》等二十多部辞书中。重庆电台及多家报刊对其艺术作品进行报道和介绍。
