A set of twelve George III silver dessert spoons, each with bright-cut engraved edge and lion crest. Hallmarked William Collings, London, probably 1776. Length 6 3/4 inches (17cm), weight 13.57 ozt (422.1 grams). The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with age and use.A few small nicks and indentations to bowls, several examples with compressed heels, one example with split where drop meets heel, visible to either side of bowl and with repair.Bottom struck hallmarks quite squashed, and hallmarks rubbed and indistinct on examples, particularly maker's mark.
