这种弥勒佛造像又称大肚弥勒佛、布袋和尚，是汉传佛教造像常见的一种，在中原地区流传甚广，为慈悲福分之象征。其造像形象是依照五代时期名叫契此的僧人形象塑造的。到宋代以后，这一形象在汉传佛教中逐渐广为人熟知。这尊弥勒佛立像，神态闲适。慈眉善目，笑容可掬，大肚袒腹，生动写实，工匠将其逍遥自在、大肚能容的形象表现得极为到位。右手持念珠，左手握带，在人物刻画上，大肚弥勒的造像也已超出了宗教造像的供奉范畴，既具备宗教造像的神圣、庄重和威严，又兼具了俗世民间的某些特征，达到了人神共一，极富亲和力的造像特点，极为难得。
