此砚以端溪水岩为质，石色青灰。砚作长方板样，亦或可为笔舔。其制作规整，线条舒展流畅。平背，镌刻大片记事铭文，极具收藏潜力。【铭文印记】铭文详见本场拍卖之拓片文本【谭桓】湖北天门人，字子尚，清顺治五年戊子举人，通山教谕，康熙十年授高要知县，署德庆知州。在高要县任内，撰修高要县志二十六卷，及撰有槐阴堂集。
