|在佛教雕刻艺术中，天王作为佛的护法神是常见的题材。此件天王头戴宝冠，身披铠甲，足踏战靴，躯体厚实壮硕，双手持兵器于胸前，衣袍飘扬飞动，形象威武刚健，威风凛凛。其面部塑造尤为精彩，天庭饱满，剑眉耸立，双目炯炯有神，颧骨格外突出，下颌丰颐，神情庄严肃穆。整尊造像延续了宋元时期汉地造像的写实之风，但在整体造型上比之更有气势，躯体浑厚，姿态昂扬，通体施金漆，体量硕大，为明代福建沙县风格造像中的极精之作。
