满清皇室以马上得天下，满蒙民族游牧生活的骑射传统一直为帝王所重视，在各类宫廷生活用具上也得以体现。此件鲨鱼皮鞘精铁炼制，腰刀、刀柄、鞘口、鞘尾、提梁部分镶铜饰之。佩刀构思巧妙，工艺精湛，配以玉马为首，毛发刻画俱精。且经久保存未失，极为少见。同类作品在北京故宫博物院所藏御用吉礼随侍佩刀形制相雷同，可咨比较，应为乾隆时期宫廷御制武备。参阅：《北京故宫博物院藏文物珍品大系—清宫武备》上海世纪出版股份有限公司，2008 年，页 131 － 133，图 137
