|宣德青花以其古朴，典雅的造型，晶莹艳丽的釉色，多姿多彩的纹饰而闻名于世，与明代其他各朝的青花瓷器相比，其烧制技术达到了最高峰，其成就被称颂为“开一代未有之奇”。《景德镇陶录》评价宣德瓷器：“诸料悉精，青花最贵。” 宣德青花胎体厚重，胎质精密细腻、洁白坚硬。釉面肥厚滋润，光泽柔和不刺眼，多白中泛青，俗称“亮青釉”。宣德朝瓷器大件多用国产青料，小件器物则用苏麻离青，它发色深沉浓艳，能呈现宝石般的色泽；色料凝聚厚处会形成黑褐色的结晶斑点。此印盒四方形，盒盖与盒身凹凸咬合，盒盖微微隆起。印盒通身绘海水纹，海浪汹涌翻腾。海水波纹描绘仔细，盒盖顶绘云纹， 象征着大海浪潮滔天之势，构思精巧，画工精湛，线条柔而有力，充分表达了大海的特质。笔锋汇聚处有点点黑色，是苏麻离青料所特有的特点，形成了一种水墨画一般的独特美感。
