题识：甲戌五月时客神阳山舍，野航莲溪。|钤印：「真然」「莲溪」 |莲溪（1816-1884），江苏兴化人。僧人，俗性丁，自称俗丁，名真然，字莲溪、莲溪（一作痉溪），一号野航，又称黄山樵子。道光二十四年（1844）同歙人汪仰绘至扬州。尝画盈丈人像、佛像，不用朽稿，落笔即成，人称绝技。亦善竹石、飞禽，尤擅画荷。善禽鱼、花卉、走兽，山水有华嵒遗意。画荷尤萧然出尘，兼工篆刻。扬州诸画人屡邀画会排挤，而卒不能掖。中年游黄山，纵览当地故家所藏宋元名迹，画艺益进。
