款识：岫君 |端石的坑口众多，但其中石质最优，最受历代砚痴追捧的还属老坑端石。此砚石质地细润，刻工娴熟，随形而制，正面刻一位老者持杖立于山中，背面刻层叠山峦，有潺潺溪流穿绕其间，意境幽远，颇具匠心。王岫君，清初制砚名家，擅长利用原材石皮石纹之自然形态加以雕琢。阮葵生《茶余客话》称：“吴门顾青娘、王岫君治砚，名闻朝野，信今传后无疑也。”干嘉间江阴文人金棒阊亦云：“国朝斫砚名手，江南首推王岫筠，盖其雄浑精密，可意会不可言传也。”又有誉王氏砚艺为“清初江南第一”者，云其余如杨龙士、谢平邱等制砚高手虽各擅所长，皆瞠乎王氏之后。
