Trunk - laquered wood, richly decored - Burma, Bagan - late 19° century. Burmese trunk of rare beauty. This trunk of secular use is extraordinarily decorated even in the tray that is inside. The decorations, in the style of the Bagan area, have been made with remarkable skill engraving the various layers of lacquer (in different colors) of which the trunk is covered. The theme of decoration is based on the representation of the mythical beings of the Burmese tradition, such as Nats, guardians of the spirit and natural phenomena and the Devas, graceful deities, often represented with richly decorated court costumes Kòn-baung, including soaring headdresses. Condition Measurements: 63 x 43 x 33,5 h. - in perfect conditions.
