炉精铜，叩之音短而清脆，可见铜质之精密，器虽小，压手十分，薄壁其口，清膛烧结。耳为下戟式，足为方角式，沿炉外壁自然直垂而下，底平如镜，形制端庄沉稳，线条平直舒展，大小适手，正可盘玩。其皮色泛黄，陈旧之感立显，通体皮色立体统一，稍事轻盘，柔光立现，燃香使炉略温，着绵巾轻盘，流光溢彩，温润灵秀。底落“琴友”二字，为私家款，横向篆书排列，铸后修刻，书意甚浓，起笔提按处尤显功力，间处剔平，二字如嵌，装饰效果立现。
