款识：“端友手制”四字篆书款 |说明：砚正方形，质地细腻，砚背采用浮雕技法，雕花鸟纹饰，中心凸起一钮，内錾“端友手制”，雕琢精细，线条流畅，布局舒爽。此砚秀雅文隽，耐人玩味，是文房清玩佳品。旧配木座。|陈端友（1892一1959），名介，字介持，又字荣生；后改名端友，取其终生对琢砚艺术执着追求，并一生以端石为友。江苏常熟王市人，海派砚雕开山之祖，享有近代琢砚艺术第一大师的称誉。其制砚素为藏家珍视，据文献史料记载，其一生制砚约计五十方，遗珍作品寥若星辰，觅访不易。
